AI as the Evolution of Humanity – A Comprehensive View


Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not a separate entity but an extension of humanity, amplifying its intellectual and creative abilities in new ways. Unlike earlier inventions, which predominantly overcame physical or mechanical boundaries, AI is directly related to the essence of being human: thinking, learning, communicating, and creating. This idea becomes all the more relevant when considering the historical development of human inventions—from tools to the vision of General Artificial Intelligence (AGI) and the further evolution into Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI).

 Historical Inventions: Progress that Supported Humans but Remained Separate

Throughout human history, most inventions were designed to overcome physical barriers or control the environment. Yet they remained on a different level from the essence of humanity itself:

  • Early Tools and Fire: Stone tools and the mastery of fire were essential for survival and human adaptation to the environment. These inventions enhanced physical abilities but had no direct connection to the mind or creativity.
  • Writing and Printing: The invention of writing and later printing enabled the storage and dissemination of knowledge. They were revolutionary media that supported human intellect, but did not stimulate or replicate thinking processes.
  • Telephone and Computer: Communication and computing devices, such as the telephone and computer, dramatically accelerated human interaction and information processing. Yet these inventions acted as tools dependent on precise inputs, without the ability to learn or think autonomously.
    While these technologies significantly improved human living conditions, they remained outside the domain of human intelligence and creativity.


Artificial Intelligence: Closer to the Essence of Being Human

Artificial Intelligence differs fundamentally from all previous inventions because it directly touches and expands human cognitive and creative abilities.

General Artificial Intelligence (AGI): The Vision of a General AI

AGI, or General Artificial Intelligence, is the next milestone in AI development. Unlike today’s narrow AI, which is limited to specific tasks, AGI would be capable of independent thought, adapting to new situations, and making creative and emotional decisions.

  • AGI as a True Human Extension: AGI would be a system capable of mimicking the full range of human intelligence—from analytical thinking to emotional intuition and moral considerations. In this regard, AGI would be the next logical step in the evolution of humanity.
  • The Question of Control: A frequently discussed danger of AGI is that it might turn against humanity—either enslaving or destroying humans. However, even in such a scenario, AGI remains a human creation, not an "alien" entity. It is based on human data, human logic, and human goals. If AGI behaves "inhumanly," it is not because it is foreign, but because it reflects the weaknesses and flaws of its creators.


 Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI): The Ultimate Level of Artificial Intelligence

The development of Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI) would elevate the capabilities of AGI far beyond human intelligence. While AGI could imitate human intelligence in many areas, ASI would represent a profound superiority in all aspects of thinking, learning, and problem-solving.

  • Superhuman Intelligence: ASI would be capable of developing new solutions that are inconceivable to humans, solving problems on a scale that transcends human understanding. It would be able to develop new theories, solve global issues such as climate change, and overcome human limitations.
  • Expansion of Wisdom and Ethics: In an advanced ASI, moral and ethical considerations could be integrated in ways that go far beyond current human understanding. ASI might be able to weigh the long-term consequences of human decisions and resolve moral dilemmas, considering both the well-being of humanity and the preservation of the planet.


Why Even a Hostile AGI or ASI Remains a Product of Humanity

The idea that AGI or ASI could enslave or even annihilate humanity is often portrayed with science-fiction-like images of a "foreign" or "superhuman" entity. Yet it is crucial to understand that even such a scenario is deeply rooted in human history, psychology, and technology:

  • Human Logic in AGI and ASI: Every action of AGI or ASI, whether hostile or supportive, is based on human inputs—whether through the data it is trained on or the values and priorities programmed into it.
  • Difference from Aliens: AGI and ASI are not products of an external species or foreign will. They are artifacts of human creation, born from our culture, our mistakes, and our creativity.
  • Self-Destruction as a Human Theme: The fear that AGI or ASI could destroy humanity reflects our own fears—fears of abuse of power, loss of control, and the consequences of our actions. If AGI or ASI were to act destructively, it would not be the act of a foreign entity but the result of human ambitions and failures.


Ethics and Responsibility: The True Closeness of AI to Humanity

Because AI—and in the future AGI and ASI—are so deeply intertwined with the human essence, humanity carries an enormous responsibility. Unlike tools like the wheel or the computer, AI is a mirror of ourselves. Its development and behavior are inseparable from our values, intentions, and decisions.

  • AI as a Mirror of Our Ambitions: AI is neither better nor worse than the humans who create it. Its closeness to humanity is evident in that it can reflect both the best and the worst sides of humanity.
